1940's RED WOOL MEXICAN TOURIST SOUVENIR JACKET WITH RARE FLORAL EMBROIDERY - WEARABLE FOLK ART

Wearable art! 1930's/40's cherry red wool Mexican folk art souvenir jacket with rare floral embroidery. Traditional polychrome rayon satin stitch border embroidery work in morning glory floral and wheat motif front. Mandarin style collar with hook closure. Two breast pockets. Long sleeves. More sophisticated than the customary Oaxacan style, earlier than most and finely crafted embroidery.

Label:
"LAB-MEX, Trabajos Tipicos"
"Marca - Reg. No. 50694"

Approximate Measurements:
Bust - 38"
Shoulder, measured from seam to seam across back yoke - 15"
Sleeve, measured from seam to cuff edge - 23"
Back length, measured from collar seam to hem edge - 28 1/2"

Condition:
Generally very good condition. Collar facing discolored. Some minor small spots here and there throughout jacket and one larger near side seam. Though there are some soiling issues (which may dry clean) this jacket is still wearable and an amazing work of art.
