PAUL POIRET INSPIRED 1910s FRENCH AFTERNOON SUIT- JEROME
The long tunic over a narrow hobble underskirt first appeared in 1911, introduced by Paul Poiret. The full skirted walking suit was a thing of the past!
This distinctive and elaborate creation by the French designer, Jerome, has every characteristic of that year of forward thinking haute couturiers. From the hobbled skirt to the high waisted, long tunic and the exotically draped skirt, this is a remarkably orchestrated ensemble. Sage green patterned wool with cream silk faille accents and ivory silk lining. Cut-away tunic style jacket with deep neckline and single button closure. Sculpted cream faille collar and cuffs with self piping. Woven silk cord buttons. Long sleeves. Ivory silk lining with nine weights at hem. Fitted back with gores that flare below the waist. Asymetrically pleated and draped skirt with continuous waist. Applied silk satin cummerbund with rectangular waist ornamentation. Ivory silk 1/2 lining at skirt with weighted hem. Dare we declare: ONE OF A KIND!?!
