LUXURIOUS LATE 1910'S VINTAGE PAISLEY DRESSING GOWN - MADE FROM ORIGINAL MID 19th CENTURY HAND WOVEN PAISLEY
Late 1910's / early 1920's wool cocoon style dressing gown assembled from a handwoven paisley of the Victorian era. The dressing gown: V neckline trimmed with shirred black silk. Center front hook closure with elaborate black silk ribbon work, frogs and streamers. Deep dolman sleeves. Black pleated silk criss cross banding drawn through embroidered loops upper yoke. Black back made from shawl center medallion. AN EXQUISITE WORK OF ART!
The original Victorian shawl: Rich red hand woven worsted wool paisley shawl with black center. Elaborately woven flourishes with a Persian influence. This coat is made from a shawl that epitomized the quintessential gentlewoman's wrap of the Victorian era. Accenting colors of golden orange, turquoise, hunter green and black.

Condition:
Almost EXCELLENT. Although the dressing gown is in immaculate condition, the amazing changeable silk lining with ruched edging is sadly disintegrating.
