LATE 19TH CENTURY RED WOVEN WOOL DOUBLE SIDED PAISLEY SHAWL - FRENCH
VICTORIAN 1890s vintage double sided paisley Kashmir shawl. Deep rich tones: red, burnt orange, amber, deep espresso brown and hunter green wool. Absolutely gorgeous, with fine weave on both sides features the most prominent five colored red paisley design. Woven border patterns with 3" fringe on two sides. This shawl epitomizes the quintessential gentlewoman's wrap of the Victorian era. Fringed gates of red, green ivory and burnt orange. Attributed to European weave, likely French.

EXCELLENT. Shows moderate wear at fringe and light wear throughout. Shows overall some discoloration, darker areas and soil marks. Fine professional crepeline reinforcement repair (4" X 5") at corner to strengthen area. (Amazingly expert repair!) Overall strong textile in exceptional condition.
