Authentic Turn-of-the-Century vintage workwear buckle back trousers. Golden amber color cotton corduroy. Button fly. Inside side pockets. Coin pocket at right waist seam. Suspenders buttons. H. B. Glover Co. rivet buttons. Rivet buttons are have linen covered rivet backs (see pictures). Bound hip pockets. Notched center back waist. Shirting type stripe cotton waist facing. All original, NOT a reproduction. Very interesting example of early workwear trousers.
From the encyclopediadubuque.com: H. B. GLOVER COMPANY. One of the oldest manufacturers of men's wear west of Chicago and one of the oldest companies of its type in the nation. Founded prior to 1863, the company began large-scale manufacturing of clothing in 1876. It's factory located on Fifth and Iowa Streets, had forty-eight steam-powered sewing machines. In the production of sixty dozen garments, the company used 2,600 yards of materal daily.
The 1880s saw company expansion. By 1895 the firm employed three hundred fifty of which three hundred were women. The company pioneered adjustable pajamas and sweat-proof pockets. A "pocketeer" in overalls provided many pockes for holding tools.

Condition:
Distressed. Fabric is strong and wearable, however there is heavy natural wear and tear to these used workwear trousers. Soil discoloration and many repairs, especially around the waist, waist facing and pocket. 4 buttons have been replaced. Small hole below the buckle. Great character piece!
