1870's VINTAGE INTRICATE WHITE WORK SWISS EMBROIDERED EYELET AND COTTON LAWN TWO PIECE MORNING GOWN
Elaborate two piece 1870's vintage morning gown with whitework ruffle embellishment, stitched entirely by hand. White cotton lawn with Swiss embroidered eyelet. White on white check pattern jacquard ribbon. Fitted tunic top. Drawn ribbon band collar with ruffle. Three drawn ribbon tie closures at neck, bodice and waist. High cut shoulders, long sleeves with eyelet trimmed split "capelette" over-sleeve and ruffle cuffs with ribbon tie. Armscye edged with fine piping. Eyelet ruffle and inset at either side of button front and along hem. All original mother-of-pearl buttons. Shirring at shoulder seam and sleeve cap. Fitted back with princess seaming and three box pleats. Drawstring skirt with seven tiers of eyelet ruffles front. Box pleated eyelet flounce back with hidden drawstring beneath. Two eyelet ruffles below flounce. Classically designed Victorian morning gown with an abundance of finely crafted handwork.

Condition:
Excellent. Shows four neat, hand stitched, professional looking patches under the front ruffles which do not show when wearing and serve to extend life of garment. Shows tiny pinhole near armscye. Also shows general slight soil and water mark at right back shoulder. Would definitely benefit from cleaning.
