Marked:
MRS. C. E. KNAPP
Provenance note:
"Our great great grandmother's carpet bag. Given me (Helen) by Mary Milligan Knapp at Springfield, ILL. May 2, 1937. She used to take this when she took the stage to town to go shopping"
Condition:
EXCELLENT condition consistent with age. Lining shows slight soil, light wear and a patch at the flap. Due to the nature of the use of these bags, they are usually heavily damaged. This one looks as though it was just stored away for many years and well cared for.
