DEEP PURPLE VELVET VICTORIAN GOWN WITH GOLD BROCADE VELVET. EXTRAORDINARY CONDITION!
Spectacular Victorian gown! Majestic and even royal in it's styling and color. This impressive garment has been finely crafted for a well heeled gentlewoman of the era and preserved in the best possible condition. Deep purple cotton velvet and gold cut velvet brocade. High neck band collar. Fitted boned bodice with shirred ivory silk and brocade lapels at either side of hook closure. Bodice is fashioned with a sculpted point at center front and it is attached to skirt at back. Long puffed cap sleeves with ivory silk ruffle cuff. It is fully flat lined with various striped polished cottons. Seams are bound. Waistband attached at inside lining. The full bustle back skirt has separate brocade panel center front with dagged edge at sides and full train. Cotton and taffeta underpinnings. Self flounce at hem piped with purple silk cord and double cream lace under ruffle.
We have been told that this garment was worn by the First Lady of the state of Colorado at the governor's inauguration.
