JAMES CAMERON'S TITANIC - BROAD BRIM STRAW GIBSON GIRL HAT - SILK ROSETTE AND FEATHERS
1900's vintage broad brim Gibson Girl picture hat. Black woven straw, blue and orange feathers, silk rosette. Large flat top crown and broad brim. The large crown is signature design element of Gibson Girl hat. Slight roll up brim. Silk rosette, ostrich & turkey feathers. Blue ribbon band. Ribbon inner band. All original 1900's vintage hat, not a modern remake.
JAMES CAMERON'S TITANIC:
In 1996 we were privileged to contribute wardrobe to the Fox/Paramount production of James Cameron's TITANIC. It is without a doubt, one of the most exciting projects we have ever been associated with. At the end of the enormous production there were naturally pieces that went missing. This hat was one of the pieces traded to us, from the production, as a replacement. All important garments that were purchased by the costume department had TITANIC production labels applied (see photo). There was a conscientious effort made by the costume designer to purchase authentic period pieces, restore them if necessary and protect them during production. They were stored in the safety of individual boxes and only brought out when a scene required them. This hat has been in our private collection since that time. It has been painstakingly stored for safekeeping. This is the first time it is being offered for public consideration.

The Titanic storage box custom made for production, as noted above, is also included with the purchase. Box shows some production wear. Box dimensions: 20" X 13"

Condition:
Considering its use in a film production and the early period of the hat it is in very good condition. Shows minor wear at brim edge & under-brim. Shows two repairs, one very small and hard to detect on crown and one straw weave at under-brim. Overall great condition and wearable.
