World War II era. This catalog was undoubtedly compiled before the end of WWII. This book exemplifies the state of our country after four years of war when many supplies in the US were becoming depleted. Prices in the catalog were also controlled by the Office of Price Administration which was established in 1941 after the outbreak of the war. Countless items were rationed, a concept we simply could not conceive of today. Catalog includes patterns illustrate how to repurpose old clothes. There is also a mailing kit for sending packages to the boys overseas. There are war time models of boats & planes. It provides great historical research. Includes womens fashions, mens fashions, children's fashions, watches, bicycles, furniture, linens , tools, agricultural supplies and so much more. All original 1945, NOT a reproduction, eBook or CD copy. Significant reference for 1940's style & trends, illustrating the state of our country nearing the end of the war.
PS: Just a note that Hollywood was ever present during the war. The catalog includes a Max Factor advertisement that includes Maureen O'Hara promoting her movie "The Spanish Main"
Cover Art: Please note cover art "SOLIDTUDE" by A. D. Greer. Reproductions were also available for sale in the catalog. Greer was an American artist best known for his luminous landscape paintings. Born on December 25, 1904 in Pond Creek, OK, the self-taught painter rendered landscapes and still lifes with a high level of realistic detail. His images of the American West—the Grand Canyon and Yosemite Falls in particular—brought him public attention and critical acclaim.
