1960's VINTAGE BONNIE CASHIN TWO PIECE PINK CASHMERE SWEATER AND SKIRT SET - I. MAGNIN BALLANTYNE (SCOTLAND)
1960's vintage BONNIE CASHIN two piece cashmere sweater and matching skirt set. Bonnie gets your pulse pounding and she conveys it with this wonderful atomic age heart monitor pattern!! A tweedy blend of orange and pink which translates to a flamingo color with a pink geometric pattern. The pullover sweater has a ribbed bateau neckline. 3/4 geometrically set in sleeves with ribbed cuff. 1" wide ribbed waist band. Slim cut skirt with applied waistband. Invisible Alco metal zipper at side. (This is an early invisible zipper... note it is metal... another Bonnie Cashion innovation.) Cotton faced hem. All original, NOT a reproduction. This is such a marvelous outfit in luxurious cashmere, in a festive color and so modern with the atomic age inspiration!
BONNIE CASHIN:
One of the great American designers of the 20th century, uninfluenced by Paris and yet her designs are still relevant today! In 1962, Bonnie Cashin was hired by the then new line of leather handbags, Coach, working there until 1974. She was skilled at mixing fabrics and worked frequently with canvas, leather, poplin, suede and tweeds, and many have credited her with being the first designer to layer. Cashin worked for many companies including the Ballantyne – 1964-1968. Received Coty's Hall of Fame Award in 1972.
