EXTRAORDINARY RED & GREEN TWEED STRIPE 50's VINTAGE SUIT - MITERED STRIPES & UNIQUE PIECING
1950's vintage suit finely tailored in an extraordinary wool textile. Red with moss green, olive green and teal green tweedy broad banded stripe wool. Jacket and skirt pieced to effect an ombre appearance. Jacket - Modified keyhole neckline with fold back wing collar. Inverted sculpted button flaps inset into deep yoke seam. Four button front. All original mottled mocha celluloid buttons - 16 total. Fitted at nipped waist. Peplum. Long tapered dolman sleeves with pieced and mitered stripes. Unlined, seams finished with rayon seam binding, peplum lined with black illusion. Skirt - Pencil shape. Double stitched down pleats left and right at waist. Metal zipper close at left side seam. Center back panel with stitched down pleats left and right sides and vents at hem. Button trim and pleats.
Vintage aficionados are driven to distraction when a garment of this fine design has no label. It may have simply been engineered for some lucky fifties' fashion plate by a gifted dressmaker. In any event, sadly... no label.
