SILK CHIFFON EDITH SMALL 1950'S EVENING GOWN - SCREEN WORN DIANE LANE HOLLYWOODLAND
Dramatic 1950's EDITH SMALL gown worn by Diane Lane in Hollywoodland. Fine ink black silk chiffon over China silk lining. Deep sculpted sweetheart neckline. Elaborately draped over a structured boned bodice, no doubt inspired by Jean Desses design. Column gown shirred and draped center front from neckline to hem. Tulip hem. Full length waterfall panel scarves of generously gathered silk chiffon at back upper bodice left and right. Used creatively, these scarves can fashion a myriad of marvelous looks for this gown. Spaghetti straps. Shirred at center back waist. Slight shirring center back skirt lower. Center back metal zip closure. Full silk lining. Another exquisitely sophisticated creation by Edith Small.
Hollywood Connection: Worn by Diane Lane as Toni Mannix in Hollywoodland (Working title: Truth, Justice and the American Way). Co-starring Ben Affleck. The story of George Reeves, Hollywood's first Superman! Costume designer: Julie Weiss. Wardrober's tag included.
