1950's vintage two piece DON LOPER afternoon NEW LOOK ensemble trimmed with full luxurious blush beige fox. Beige velvet coat with dark mocha silk satin dress and lining. A truly extraordinary fashion statement!
THE COAT: Cocoon shaped velvet with lush fox trim at neckline, left and right center front and hem, front and back. Three quarter dolman sleeves. Front pleats set into angled front waist seam. Full silk satin lining.
THE DRESS: Unique sheath design with all the customary distinctive LOPER details. Self banded jewel neckline. Draped dolman cap sleeve. Banded princess seaming sculpted into hip pockets. Seamed at bust line front and back. Pencil skirt. Deep plunging square shape back with band closure at neck. Self bow below plunging back with banded V inset. Hand picked center back metal zipper. Fully flat lined in silk. BRILLIANT fashion ensemble... suggests Hollywood royalty!
Don Loper:
Designer to the stars and most known for his appearance on the I LOVE LUCY show in 1951: "The Fashion Show." He started his career in the 30's in a dance team with Maxine Barrat at the big clubs like the Copacabana. He designed costumes for the Copa. He did a stint as a costume designer in Hollywood but his greatest success was as designer of lavish glamour gowns for the stars.

Condition:
Excellent condition. The fox fur is supple and in fine condition. The coat has some slight soil, mostly at sleeve edges. The dress has had some alterations to back seam and hem. On very close inspection there are a few minor snags and some slight soil. Back darts show minor pulling. Generally speaking the ensemble is in remarkable condition.
