EXTRAORDINARY CUT-AWAY STYLE CREAM SHADOW STRIPE 1910's VINTAGE WALKING SUIT - H. DIETMANN - LARGE SIZE - APPEARS NEW/OLD NEVER WORN
Dramatic 1910's vintage finely tailored two piece cut-away walking suit with tulle dickie. Cream shadow stripe wool and silk. Cut-away jacket with bias cut skirt applied at pleat. Geometrically designed asymmetric closure with buttons and bound button holes. Dog's ear collar at V neckline. Braid & silk taffeta edging at collar and cuffs. Long French seamed dolman sleeves with turn back cuffs. Embroidered over satin buttons (9-all present). Cream silk jacquard stripe full lining with breast pocket edged with self prairie points. Attached self dress shields.
Full length tiered skirt. 3/4 top tier "cut-away" sculpted inverted V front simulates lines of jacket. Continuous waist. Asymetric hook & eye closure with pleat front right with matching button & loop trim (11-all present). Inverted pleats at top tier sides with silk tassels (2) with embroidered triangle and button & frog trim (4-all present). Stitched down pleats back left & right. Full length underskirt. Silk upper skirt (lining), wool lower skirt.
Silk tulle dickie. High stand collar with fold over ruffle. Faggoted edge pleats and embroidered dots. Two panels front and back, 8" wide and 17" long. Open front, hooks at collar & elastic at waist.
Significant specimen! Exemplary construction by expert tailor. Rare large size. Excellent condition. Ideal addition to any serious period collection.
