1800's PLAITED BIB FRONT PULLOVER SHIRT - STITCHED ENTIRELY BY HAND - FOR STUDY
Post Regency / Mid 1800's pleated bib front pullover dress shirt. Off white cotton, perhaps hand loomed. Stitched entirely by hand. Collar band with china button closure. Bib front with pleats and pin tucks. Three button placket with tiny mother of pearl buttons. Applied upper shirt facings below yoke front and back left and right. Drop shoulder. Inset sleeves with tiny gathers at shoulder and gussets under arm. Applied band cuffs with china buttons. Long shirt tails with rounded side vents. Fabric is pieced at one vent side, apparently not loomed wide enough for shirt tail. Fine early dress shirt suggested for archival use. Although limited, the shirt does come with provenance... written on an envelope postmarked 1944 in Concord NY, it indicates that the shirt was made by a family member of the author by the name of Pollard.
