JAMES CAMERON'S TITANIC:
In 1996 we were privileged to contribute wardrobe to the Fox/Paramount production of James Cameron's TITANIC. It is without a doubt, one of the most exciting projects we have ever been associated with. At the end of the enormous production there were naturally pieces that went missing. This gown was one of the pieces traded to us, from the production, as a replacement. All important garments that were purchased by the costume department had TITANIC production labels applied (see photo). There was a conscientious effort made by the costume designer to purchase authentic period pieces, restore them if necessary and protect them during production. They were stored in the safety of individual boxes and only brought out when a scene required them. This gown has been in our private collection since that time. It has been painstakingly stored for safekeeping. This is the first time it is being offered for public consideration.
Label:
TITANIC
Also included:
The Titanic production storage box, as noted above, is also included with the purchase. Attached to the storage box is a Polaroid snapshot of the dress taken by the costume department for identification purposes. Box shows some production wear.
Approximate Measurements:
Bust measured underarm to underarm - 34"
Sleeve measured from neckline to lace edge - 18"
Shoulder measured across back yoke - approx 15"
Bodice length measured from shoulder seam to waist seam - 14 1/2"
Waist - 26"
Hip - 36"
Over-skirt length measured from waist seam to bottom edge - 37"
Under-skirt length measured from waist seam to bottom edge - 45"
Condition:
Considering its use in a film production and the early period of the gown it is in very good condition, however, it does have minor issues. Shows several frays in individuals ribbon strands and a few single bar breaks in marquisette. Shows some minor soil marks & discolor on close scrutiny. We understand the under-skirt was copied and restored professionally, using the original as a pattern. Gown is wearable.
